Legally conclusive DNA paternity tests are required when proof of biological relationships are needed to:

  • Resolve maintenance and paternity disputes.   Our Legal Paternity DNA test results are accepted by the South African Magistrate Courts.
  • Register the birth of a child if the Department of Home Affairs requests proof of paternity.  Our Legal Paternity DNA test results are accepted by the Department of Home Affairs for registering the birth of a child.

If you are going to court to resolve a dispute, you may need a Legal Paternity DNA test.  The magistrate may request the test, which is sent directly to us by the Magistrates Court.

We make it easy for you, by arranging for our nurse to come to the court on the day of your hearing – so you don’t have any unnecessary inconvenience or cost of going anywhere else.
The results are sent via email between 7 – 10 working days after sample collection, and are accepted by the court for resolving the dispute.

In South Africa, a paternity test is not required to register a child’s birth, but it may be needed if the child’s parents are not married, or if the father is not South African.   If the Department of Home Affairs requests proof of paternity, they will accept BioSmart’s Legal Paternity DNA Test result as conclusive proof.

We make it easy for you,

  • You can either come to us (in Steenberg Office Park).
  • Go to your nearest participating Clicks Clinic.
  • Our nurse can come to you (at an extra cost).

A nurse, will collect the samples and verifies each of your identities.  The chain of custody of all samples are maintained, which means that documented evidence of the origin of each sample is ensured.

While we strive for timely delivery, laboratory test results may be delayed due to supplier or processing issues beyond our control. We will notify you of any delays and provide updated timelines. Please follow all sample collection instructions carefully, as samples not meeting laboratory requirements may be rejected. Test fees are non-refundable as all results will be delivered regardless of timing delays, and replacement tests cannot be provided due to rejected samples.
