WHO & WHEN?
Doctors may recommend a 2nd Line Kidney Test for individuals with abnormal results in their Healthy Kidneys test.
According to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Disease (NIDDK), people with a high risk of developing kidney disease should undergo regular kidney function tests. These include people with:
- High blood pressure
- Heart disease
- A family history of kidney failure
Regular kidney function tests also help diagnose kidney disorders in their early stages, which makes treatment and management much easier.
This sample kit contains a finger-prick blood collection device and clear instructions. With it you can collect a sample at home. Samples are couriered to and tested at the BioSmart accredited pathology laboratory.
Urine is tested for:
- Electrolyte: Sodium
- Electrolyte: Potassium
Results can provide information about general kidney function and/or possible kidney damage. Urine albumin to creatinine ratio (UACR) is used to assess kidney damage.
Your kidney health report will come in an easy-to-understand format with a detailed breakdown of results, what they mean and your next steps.
