A URINARY TRACT INFECTION (UTI) IS CAUSED BY AN INFECTION IN YOUR BLADDER OR KIDNEYS. IT IS ASSOCIATED WITH UNPLEASANT SYMPTOMS SUCH AS A STRONG URGE TO URINATE THAT DOES NOT GO AWAY AND A BURNING FEELING WHEN URINATING. THIS TEST CAN DETECT THE PRESENCE OF AN INFECTION, INCLUDING DRUG-RESISTANT ORGANISMS, AND HELP ENSURE THAT YOU RECEIVE THE MOST EFFECTIVE TREATMENT.

This sterile kit contains a urine collection device. Samples collected at home are couriered to and tested at an accredited pathology laboratory. During the urinalysis, the following are tested to help detect a wide range of disorders:

The following bacteria, fungi and resistance markers are tested: Acinetobacter Baumannii, Escherichia Coli, Citrobacter Freundii, Citrobacter Koseri, Klebsiella Oxytoca, Klebsiella Pneumoniae, Klebsiella Aerogenes, Serratia Marcescens, Staphylococcus Aureus, Staphylococcus Epidermidis, Staphylococcus Saprophyticus, Streptococcus Agalactiae (GBS), Morganella Morganii, Enterobacter Cloacae, Enterococcus Faecalis, Enterococcus Faecium, Proteus spp, Providencia Stuartii, Providencia Rettgeri, Pseudomonas Aeruginosa, Candida Albicans (Fungus) and Antibiotic Resistance Markers: mecA (incl MRSA), Trimethoprim Resistance 1-5 and Vancomycin Resistance A/B.
